Drift over the Serengeti or Tarangire at sunrise for 50–70 minutes, then land for a full bush breakfast with your flight certificate.

Hot-air balloon rides bring a thrill, a rush of excitement and a hint of nerves — and although the experience can be pricey, the views of the landscapes and wildlife are like nothing else. Balloon safaris currently run in Tarangire and the Serengeti (South, Central, West and North), operated by Miracle Experience.

The flight lasts 50 to 70 minutes. Pilots fly low over streams and the savannah, which makes for excellent aerial photography: baboons in the treetops, zebras and antelopes moving across the grasslands.

Day-by-day itinerary

  1. Day 1Sunrise balloon flight

    Pick-up from your camp can be as early as 4:00 am, depending on where you stay. At the launch site the balloon is inflated and you receive a safety briefing. You board the basket around 6:30 am as the sun rises and drift over the plains for 50–70 minutes. After landing, enjoy a full bush breakfast and receive your photos and a certificate. The rest of the day continues with your game drives.
