Booking & payment
How do I book a trip?
Open any trip, choose a date and the number of travellers and send the request. We check availability and reply with a confirmation and the payment details. You can also message us on WhatsApp.
How do I pay?
You can pay by bank transfer, by card when card payment is switched on, or in cash (US dollars) when you arrive. A deposit confirms your booking and the balance is due before you travel.
How much is the deposit?
The deposit is shown on your booking and in your confirmation email. Trips that start soon are paid in full when you book.
Can I change a trip?
Yes. Every trip can be changed: add a day, swap a beach, upgrade your stay or combine two trips. Tell us what you want and we send a new price.
Are the prices per person?
Yes, unless the trip says per group. Prices go down when more people travel together — see the price table on each trip.
Travel on Zanzibar
When is the best time to visit Zanzibar?
June to October and December to February are dry and sunny. March is hot. April and May bring the long rains, and November the short rains. Many travellers still come in the green season because prices are lower.
What should I wear in Stone Town and the villages?
Zanzibar is a mostly Muslim island. In Stone Town and the villages please cover your shoulders and knees. Swimwear is fine on the beach and at your hotel.
What are the tides like?
On the east coast (Paje, Jambiani, Michamvi) the sea goes out a long way at low tide. The north coast (Nungwi, Kendwa) is deep enough to swim at most tides. Plan your beach with this in mind.
Do you pick up from my hotel?
Each day trip page says what is included. Where hotel pick-up is part of the trip, the time depends on where you stay — we confirm it the day before.
Which currency should I bring?
US dollars are widely accepted for tours and hotels. For markets and small shops, Tanzanian shillings are easier. ATMs are found in Stone Town and some beach areas.
Safaris from Zanzibar
Can I do a safari from Zanzibar?
Yes. Light aircraft fly from Zanzibar to Mikumi and Nyerere in about an hour, and to the Serengeti in two to three hours. You can go for one day or for several nights.
How much luggage can I take on the small planes?
Usually around 15 kg per person, in a soft bag without wheels. You can leave the rest of your luggage at your hotel on Zanzibar. We confirm the limit for your flight.
Do I need malaria tablets?
Talk to your doctor or a travel clinic before you go. Most travellers to the mainland parks take malaria tablets and use insect repellent in the evenings.
Places to stay
Can you book my hotel too?
Yes. Our partner Zanta Booking lists holiday homes, villas and rooms across Zanzibar. When you book a trip with us you can add a place to stay in the same step, and we confirm both together.
Can I see where I will stay before I book?
Yes. Every place to stay has its own page on Zanta Booking with photos, rooms and prices. Pick one when you book your trip, or ask us to suggest one.
