On the east coast the tide goes out a long way, leaving pools, sandbars and seaweed farms. Plan swims around high tide and walks around low tide, and you will love it.
Paje is the kitesurfing capital of Zanzibar. Jambiani, just south, is quieter and more village. Both are close to Jozani Forest and the Rock restaurant at Michamvi.
